Overview

Little Adam’s Peak is one of the most popular and accessible hikes in Ella, named for its resemblance to the sacred Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada). Rising to approximately 1,141 metres, the trail offers a gentle climb with rewarding panoramic views over the Ella Gap and surrounding highlands.

The hike begins just off the Passara Road (Ella – Wellawaya road), where a clearly marked path leads through tea plantations and open hillside terrain. The route is easy to follow and gradually ascends via dirt paths and steps toward the summit.

As you gain elevation, the landscape opens up to reveal expansive views of rolling hills, valleys, and tea estates. The summit itself consists of a series of viewpoints along a ridge, providing multiple angles for photography and sightseeing.

Due to its short duration and well-defined path, Little Adam’s Peak is suitable for beginners, families, and casual hikers. It is especially popular during sunrise and sunset when visibility is at its best and the lighting enhances the surrounding scenery.
